SAW X Featurette Teases the Sequel Will Feel "Like the Early Movies” in the Franchise

Lionsgate has released a new featurette for the upcoming horror film Saw X. The video offers some new insight on the film from the cast and crew as well as gives us some fresh new footage to enjoy.

The film comes from Kevin Greutert, who teases in the video that this sequel will feel like the early films in the franchise, saying: “It was our desire to make a film that feels more like the early Saw movies.” Producer Oren Koules also noted, “In our mind, this is really Saw II.”

Koules went on to explain that Saw X is a movie that’s made specifically for the longtime fans of the franchise. It a film that the hardcore fans will certainly appreciate.

This movie is set between the events of Saw I and II, and it follows “a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. The infamous killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged, and ingenious traps.”

The goal for the movie is to deliver a film that “captures everything Saw fans love about the franchise, while also keeping them guessing with all-new traps and a new mystery to solve.”

The cast for Saw X also includes Tobin Bell as John Kramer, aka Jigsaw Renata Vaca (Midnight Family), Paulette Hernandez (Crown of Tears), Joshua Okamoto (Control-Z), Octavio Hinojosa (Come Play With Me), Synnøve Macody Lund (Ragnarok), Steven Brand (The Sandman) and Michael Beach (Dahmer).

Franchise director Kevin Greutert, who worked on Saw VI and Saw: The Final Chapter, is helming the project.

Lionsgate will now release Saw X in theaters on September 29, 2023!
