Scarlett Johansson, Michael Fassbender, Owen Wilson, and Penélope Cruz to Star in New Rom-Com From Nancy Meyers
Scarlett Johansson, Owen Wilson, Penélope Cruz, and Michael Fassbender are set to star in a new romantic comedy project from director Nancy Meyers. Meyers is known for films such as The Parent Trap, What Women Want, Something’s Gotta Give, The Holiday, The Intern, and more.
Her next untitled film is set up with Netflix and it’s got a pretty big budget of $130 million! That might just be one of the most expensive rom-coms ever made!
The story is set in the world of Hollywood and the description reads: “Talented young writer/director, Porter Nash, and brilliant young producer, Reggie Pettipiece get off to a fantastic Hollywood start: meeting, quickly falling in love, and creating successful films together. Soon enough, the romance fades and the two call it quits, but when another great career opportunity arises, they find themselves teamed up on a new project with high stakes and two emotionally volatile stars that may test their limits…”
The news comes from Matthew Belloni’s Puck newsletter, and the project is expected to begin shooting this May in Los Angeles.
The movie’s got a great cast, and I’m curious to see how it turns out, especially with such a massive budget.
