Scarlett Johansson Says BLACK WIDOW Was Inspired By LOGAN, TERMINATOR 2, and THE FUGITIVE
Fans at Comic-Con completely flipped over the footage of Black Widow that was screened at Comic-Con last weekend. The movie looks like it’s going to deliver an intense story that is going to be filled with some incredible action. The fight sequences that were shown in the footage were pretty damn brutal and impressive.
During an interview with MTV, Scarlett Johansson talked a little bit about the film and said that the movie is its own genre, and also revealed the movies they looked at and discussed what inspired it:
"It's pretty gritty, but it's also surprising… it's kind of in its own genre, I think. Some of the movies that we talked about were The Fugitive, we talked about Logan, we talked about Terminator 2."
Logan, Terminator 2, and The Fugitive are all great movies and it’ll be interesting to see what elements of these films were used to inspire Black Widow.
The movie is set in Budapest and while we don’t know much about the story, when talking about the project, director Cate Shortland explained why she wanted to take on the project, saying, “That’s what drew me to the story – she has so many secrets. We get to understand her past and she gets to put those pieces together and become a whole person.”
Black Widow also stars Rachel Weisz, David Harbour, Florence Pugh and O.T. Fagbenle. It’s set to be released on May 1st, 2020.
What influences from Logan, Terminator 2, and The Fugitive do you think we’ll see utilized in Black Widow?
