Scarlett Johansson Says Marvel's BLACK WIDOW Will Give Fans Closure and Be Sprinkled with Magic
After all these years of Marvel fans asking for a Black Widow movie, it’s finally happening, and it looks great! Everything I’ve seen from the film has been pretty badass, and it’s going to deliver a great, brutal, and action-packed story.
After what happened to Black Widow in Avengers: Endgame, it’ll be nice to get some closure on the character, and according to Scarlett Johansson, that’s exactly what this film will give us. During a recent interview with ET, when asked about what we are going to get out of the movie, Johansson said:
“Closure. I mean, I hope so. I don’t know if I can take it anymore without closure. I mean, its too exhausting. I love it, I’m so proud of what we made. Now, we get to sprinkle the magic all over it.”
Black Widow is set between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War and sees the character travel to Budapest while she is on the run from the U.S. Government, which is hunting her down because of her actions in Civil War. While in Budapest she reunites with David Harbour's Red Guardian and Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova. They are referred to as a family in the trailer that was screened at D23. We also know that Black Widow will find herself up against the deadly villain Taskmaster, whose identity has yet to be revealed.
I can’t wait to see what other kinds of magic have been sprinkled on this movie, but I’m pretty confident that the end result is going to be freakin’ awesome! When previously talking about the film, the actress said:
"I feel like I'm in control of the destiny of this film, which gives me a lot more peace of mind. I know her better than anybody. What was her childhood like? What is her relationship to figures of authority? This character is gritty and multi-dimensional but has a lot of trauma and has led an unexamined life. In order to operate at this elite level, she has probably had to push away a lot of stuff."
Directed by Cate Shortland (Lore) from a script by Jac Schaeffer (The Hustle), Black Widow will be released in theaters on May 1st, 2020.
