Scarlett Johansson To Star in Director Taika Waititi’s WWII Film JOJO RABBIT
Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi is starting work on his next film project Jojo Rabbit, which is a film he wrote that is set during World War II. If that isn't enough to get you excited, Scarlett Johansson will star in the film!
I'm sure you're all wondering what the story is about. Well... it centers "on a young German boy in Hitler’s army who finds out that his mother, to be played by Johansson, is hiding a Jewish girl in their home."
Waititi is mostly known for his comedic film work, but this doesn't sound like the kind of film that's going to have much comedy. This is is a pretty intense setting for a film and I don't see a lot of comedy here. Which is fine! Don't get me wrong, it's good for any filmmaker to try something that is out of their element. However, it wouldn't surprise me if the director ends up squeezing some comedy in somehow.
Since Thor: Ragnarok was released, Waititi has been hard at work developing his What We Do in the Shadows series pilot, which I'm very excited about!
This movie will also be a change of pace for Johansson, who has been starring in a lot of action films and comedies recently with projects such as Avengers: Infinity War, Ghost in the Shell, Rough Night, and she voices a character in Isle of Dogs.
