SCHMIGADOON! Announces Season 2 Renewal at Apple With Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page Starring
Apple TV+ has announced the renewal of their musical comedy series, Schmigadoon! for Season 2. The second season of the show will star Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Dolemite is My Name) and Patrick Page (The Good Wife, In the Heights), as well as returning stars Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key, who play a couple named Melissa Gimble and Josh Skinner, “two doctors from New York who go on a backpacking trip when their relationship hits a rough patch and find themselves lost in the town of Schmigadoon — where life is a 1940s-50s musical with songs and characters inspired by Oklahoma! and The Music Man, among others. They can only escape after they find true love, whether that’s with each other or someone else.”
After they do find true love, Season 2 finds Josh and Melissa in Schmicago, the world of ‘60s and ‘70s musicals. Season 2 also welcomes back Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) as school teacher Emma Tate, Kristin Chenoweth (Wicked) as preacher’s wife Mildred Layton, Dove Cameron (Liv and Maddie) as waitress Betsy McDonough, Jaime Camil (Jane the Virgin) as widower and doctor Jorge Lopez, Alan Cumming (Cabaret) as Mayor Aloysius Menlove, Ann Harada (Smash) as the mayor’s wife Florence Menlove, Jane Krakowski (30 Rock) as Doc Lopez’s fiancée Countess Gabriele Von Blerkom, Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building) as Leprechaun, and Aaron Tveit (Gossip Girl, Graceland) as carnival barker Danny Bailey.
Character details for Burgess and Page have yet to be announced. I am so excited that this show is returning! The first season was just so dang fun and ridiculous. I grew up in theater, and I love the playfulness of the show that feels like living in a big theatrical production.
Season 1 of Schmigadoon! came out last July, so hopefully we will have a Season 2 release date soon. Check out the first season if you haven’t already, and we will let you know when Season 2 info has been released.
