School Is Back in Session at Bayside High in First Teaser for SAVED BY THE BELL Reboot
School is back in session at Bayside High in the first teaser trailer for the Saved By The Bell follow-up series coming to the NBC Streaming service Peacock. The series is bringing back Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, and Elizabeth Berkley to reprise their characters, who are grown up and running things now, alongside new stars Josie Totah, Alycia Pascual-Pena, Mitchell Hoog, John Michael Higgins, Dexter Darden, and Belmont Cameli.
Here’s the synopsis for the series:
When California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the highest performing schools in the state – including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the over privileged Bayside kids a much needed and hilarious dose of reality.
This is a really fun trailer that looks like they are grasping the old charm of the series, but bringing it into the current times. The best bit is when Slater, now Bayside High’s gym teacher, has Mac Morris (Hoog), son of Governor Morris and his longtime love Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Thiessen), and Jesse's son, Jamie Spano (Cameli), in his office. He reminisces about the times in high school when he and his best friend fought over a girl, but then he moved on to another girl. He then points out that those girls were the boys’ moms. It’s a fun throwback, and I can’t wait for more!
There’s no word yet on when the series will premiere, as most projects are on hold right now, but Peacock says there is still a shot we may see the series sometime this year. Check out the trailer below, and enjoy!
