SCREAM 5 Actor Says The Movie Will Have The Same Magic That The Original Films
After Wes Craven passed away, I didn’t think that we would see another Scream movie. So, it was a big surprise to learn that the filmmaking team behind Ready or Not, Radio Silence, were making Scream 5. But, I loved what they did with Ready or Not, so it’s hard not to be excited to see what they are planning for the next chapter in the Scream franchise.
During a recent interview with Collider, Scream 5 actor Kyle Gallner talked a little bit about the next installment and explains that it will have the same magic as the original films:
“Yes. And I’m the first one to be like, ‘Eh, ya know …’No, no, no.’ What I found really, really cool about the script is there’s a lot of that kind of magic that the first one had, which is really cool. I think the people who love the original are gonna really dig this."
It’s good to hear that the directors have gone out of their way to stay in line with the original movies and as long as this film has the same spirit and tone as those, I think fans will be happy. He expressed his confidence in Radio Silence member, Tyler Gillett, saying:
“I have a lot of faith in Tyler because I love Ready or Not and I’ve known Tyler for many years, and I know it’s gonna be good, so I’m excited.”
When previously talking about the film, Jenna Ortega shared how the highly anticipated sequel will fit in with previous Scream installments, saying:
“It fits perfectly [in the franchise]. Also how incredible that we have the main cast coming back. That is insane to me... Throughout the years, the franchise has done really well at calling back and bringing some sort of nostalgic aspects to the script. I'll definitely say that there are some here.”
Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin is the other director of the film and all the core members of the franchise cast are returning to reprise their roles including Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescot, David Arquette as Dewy Riley, and Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers. They are also joined by new cast members Jack Quaid and Melissa Barrera.
The script for the film is being written by James Vanderbilt (Murder Mystery, Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Guy Busick (Ready or Not). As far as story details go, all we know right now is that “it will follow a woman returning to her home town to try to find out who has been committing a series of vicious crimes.”
Scream creator Kevin Williamson is on board as an executive producer, and production is planned to shoot in Wilmington, North Carolina for a January 14th, 2022 theatrical release.
