Screen Gems Is Producing a Remake of the 1998 Horror Thriller URBAN LEGEND
Sony’s resident horror studio, Screen Gems, has hired Colin Minihan to write and direct an upcoming remake of the 1998 horror thriller, Urban Legend. Minihan has experience in the genre, having written and directed titles like Extraterrestrial, It Stains the Sands Red, and What Keeps You Alive.
Deadline reports the film will be an updated version of the original, saying:
Minihan will introduce an iconic new slasher for the digital age in a world where internet urban legends are born and move at a terrifying pace. The movie will center on a diverse cast of college students as they navigate a series of bizarre deaths that resemble urban legends linked to the darkest corners of social media.
The report also says that the film is being fast-tracked and is currently in the casting process. Do you think this new take on the horror story will make for a good flick?
