Screenwriter Lindsey Beer Set to Direct PET SEMATARY Prequel Film for Paramount+
Lindsey Beer, known for writing the film Sierra Burgess is a Loser and the revision to Chaos Walking, is making her directorial debut with the upcoming Pet Sematary prequel at Paramount. The film was previously described as an origin story to the classic Stephen King horror story about the Indian burial ground that brings the dead back to life.
This is a follow-up the 2019 remake of Stephen King’s best-selling novel that first came out in 1983, and was originally adapted in 1989 with a 1992 sequel.
Mary Lambert made history directing those two films, and Deadline reports that Paramount wanted Beer to follow in her footsteps as a female director for the franchise.
Beer is in high demand right now as a writer, as she is also lined up to write the upcoming live-action Bambi for Disney and will co-write the M.A.S.K.: Mobile Armored Strike Kommand movie, as well as Silver Sable, the Fast and Furious female spin-off, the Short Circuit remake, and the Hello Kitty movie.
Plot details for the Pet Sematary movie are unknown at this time. The original story, which the 1989 and 2019 pic was also loosely based on, with their own different twists, followed a family, who, after tragedy strikes, a discover an ancient burial ground behind his home with the power to raise the dead.
The film will debut exclusively on Paramount+. Are you looking forward to this sequel?
