Seann William Scott Would Love to Play Booster Gold for DC Studios - "Come On, James Gunn! Let's Go!"
Booster Gold was one of several projects that James Gunn and Peter Safran announced as part of their lineup of films and TV shows. Booster Gold is a fun and fascinating character, and a film project has been in and out of development at the studio for years.
It will finally happen as a series under the leadership of James Gunn, and when talking about the project, he said: “This is an absolute fan favorite. It's about a loser from the future, who uses basic future technology to come back to today and pretend to be a superhero. It's a series like all the other series for HBO Max.”
He added: "Think of it basically as a story of a superhero's imposter syndrome, and how do you deal with that? How does he try to use this future technology to be loved by people today? And what is really the base of that and it's a character study. That's going to be a very different type of show, and we are talking to an actor about this right now, and I think that's going to happen."
During a recent interview with CB, Seann William Scott (American Pie, The Wrath of Becky) shared that he would love to take on the role of Booster Gold for DC Studios, as it’s a role that he can see himself fit into. When asked about starring in a comic book film, he said:
"I definitely would. I'd love to. I think it'd be fun to do a comic book movie. I think the first character that came to mind was — Booster Gold could be very fun, but I think I'm too old for it... I don't know if he's supposed to be younger, but that character, I was like 'That I could.' I just don't remember his age, but it was like 'That's a great character.'"
He went on to say: "Come on, James Gunn! Let's go!" I can totally imagine Scott in the role of Booster Gold! I doubt it will happen, though, as I can see Gunn wanting to go younger with the character.

Booster Gold, AKA Michael Jon Carter, was a football hero and celebrity in the 25th Century who became publicly disgraced after he was caught gambling on his own games. With his reputation tarnished, Carter stole super-powered relics from the past and traveled back in time, with the plan to become a famous superhero. Though he began cocky, Booster eventually became a real hero.
Jamie Reyes is a teenager from El Paso, TX who, one night, fused with a piece of alien technology called the Scarab that was sent to Earth from an ancient cosmic race. The Scarab gives its host extraordinary powers and becomes a suit that equips the user with the ability to fly and a slew of other powers. The technology was sent under the guise of helping budding civilizations, but the Scarab’s true mission was to slowly overtake the host’s consciousness and take over the world. Due to damage from the journey, the technology and its powers fuse symbiotically with Reyes–with Reyes’ consciousness intact. Reyes then uses the suit to fight crime as the Blue Beetle.
Booster and Blue Beetle frequently partner up in the comics and are close allies, often pulled into more comedic shenanigans. The dynamic duo are also members of the Justice League and are being planted now to appear in a future JL movie down the road.”
