Sebastian Stan Calls For Fans to Get Another THUNDERBOLTS* Movie Off the Ground - "Help Us Make Another One"
Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes is a leader in the MCU these days, as one of the longest standing Avengers since the loss of Iron Man and the original Captain America. He laid low for a while after the events of Avengers: Endgame and the limited series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, reappearing in Captain America: Brave New World for a cameo where he offered his friend Sam Wilson, aka Captain America, (Anthony Mackie) some support while revealing that Bucky has been dabbling in politics and was running for the U.S. Congress.
This storyline lead into his role in Thunderbolts*, where he joined the antihero crew that became the New Avengers, who he now leads alongside Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh).
Stan’s Bucky Barnes will return in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday, along with his fellow New Avengers, but what about a Thunderbolts* sequel? Sebastian Stan is down to make one if the fans are ready to fight for it.
In a recent appearance at Tokyo Comic-Con 2025 (via The Direct), Stan talked about his experience making the movie fondly, and put in a challenge to fans, saying:
“We just had a lot of fun because it was a great group of people, and everybody was very funny. David Harbour [and] Wyatt Russell and Florence Pugh [is] really very talented. It was just a good time. If you guys like the movie, help us make another one.”
I think fans would absolutely receive another Thunderbolts team up, but in reality, we have to wait and see who survives the events that are about to go down in Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027).
I hope the New Avengers are all still standing when it’s all said and done, but we will just have to wait and see.
