Sebastian Stan Teases Major Character Deaths in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY
Sebastian Stan is becoming one of the longest-standing Avengers in the MCU. With Chris Evans’s Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man gone, Bucky Barnes is a veteran, and it makes sense that he is one of the leaders of the New Avengers (formerly known as the Thunderbolts), alongside Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh).
The next event film in the MCU is Avengers: Doomsday, and it, along with its follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, are expected to be at least as big as Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, which both had major, lasting effects in the Marvel universe. So it would make sense that fans are being warned about some big losses heading into this next battle.
Stan recently spoke out about what fans can expect while appearing at Tokyo Comic-Con (via CBM). He, of course, couldn’t reveal much, but he did say:
"I don't know if I can say very much about that. I don't know what's going to happen. We'll see who makes it or who doesn't. I think the most exciting thing is Robert Downey Jr., one of the greatest, coming back. He's definitely going to have something in store for everybody."
With Downey’s Doom being the big bad of this chapter, we have to expect that we will see some painful casualties in the process of defeating him. It will be an emotional ride, but I look forward to seeing what the Russo Brothers bring us this time around.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, 2026; Avengers: Secret Wars hits theatres on December 17, 2027.
