See the Awesome Silhouettes of Cinematographer Roger Deakins

If you don't instantly know the name Roger Deakins, trust me — you're familiar with his work. He's arguably the best living cinematographer in the world, and responsible for jaw-dropping shots in in movies like The Shawshank Redemption, Skyfall, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and dozens more. He's been nominated for an Oscar thirteen times but has somehow never won. That might finally change next year because he's shooting Ridley Scott's Blade Runner 2049, but we'll have to see what the other contenders are throughout the year.

In any case, H. Perry Orton of One Perfect Shot has created a video tribute to the silhouettes in Deakins' movies, and it's beautiful to behold. Man, this guy knows how to frame a freaking shot. The one of Brad Pitt being enveloped in smoke as the train comes to a stop is an all-timer.
