SEGA Announces the Genesis Mini 2 is Coming to North America in October

SEGA recently announced that the Genesis Mini 2 will be releasing in North America on the same day as in Japan. Knowledge of the Genesis Mini 2 (aka Master Drive Mini 2) a few weeks ago but there was no information regarding a US release.

That means that SEGA fans will be able to enjoy over 50 classic games from the Genesis and as a bonus, SEGA CD titles will be included in the 50+-title count. Another improvement over 2019’s Genesis Mini is that it will come with a 6-Button controller. If you prefer the 3-Button version, the controllers for the first Genesis Mini will be compatible with the Genesis Mini 2. I’ve included a list of games below that were revealed as of writing below, but for the most up to date information, head over to the official site.

The Genesis Mini 2 will release on October 27 and will be available exclusively through Amazon which currently has the price at $103.80 + $21.99 shipping. That sounds a little nuts price-wise. Honestly, I feel like this should’ve just been a software DLC update for the original with the 6-button controller being a new peripheral for purchase. What do you think of the new Genesis Mini 2?
