Selena Gomez to Produce and Possibly Star in Remake of '80s Comedy WORKING GIRL
Selena Gomez was known for years for her Disney channel persona, but has made the leap to adult stardom with her role in the hilarious and fun series Only Murders in the Building. She keeps up with her comedy legend co-stars, and has arrived at the place in her career where doors are opening for her to carve out her path. Next up on her list is a remake of the 1988 dramedy Working Girl.
Gomez is set to produce the film, and it is unclear if she is also going to star, but I think it would be a fun role for her to play. Ilana Pena, who created the Disney+ series Diary of a Future President, is adapting the screenplay for the film, which is eyeing a release on Hulu. A director has not been announced.
The story in the 1988 film follows an ambitious 30-something Staten Island secretary who takes over office operations while her boss is recovering from a broken leg. But when the secretary pitches a winning idea, her boss attempts to take credit.
