How I Met Your Mother was a fantastic series that lasted nine seasons at CBS and told the years-long story from the perspective of Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) to his children of how he met their mother. The series had a hilarious supporting cast and such good writing that fans have stayed dedicated to the series, and it has garnered more and more viewers over the years.

Now it has been announced that a sequel series titled How I Met Your Father is now headed to Hulu, and the series will star Hilary Duff. Duff recently parted ways with Disney+ after disagreeing on how her reboot of Lizzie McGuire should have played out. The actress hoped that the series could take a more realistic look at the adult life of the character, and wanted to move the series to Hulu, but the project ended up dead in the water, much to the dismay of fans.

So at least Duff was able to rebound at the streamer she hoped for with a new series that sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

Here’s the synopsis:

In the near future, Sophie (Duff) is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the year 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options. According to an individual with knowledge of the project, it remains unclear how/if the new show will tie into the original.

The series is being created by This Is Us co-showrunners and Love, Victor co-creators Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who serve as writers and executive producers on the news series. How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are also onboard as executive producers. Duff will produce in addition to starring, with Adam Londy serving as co-executive producer. 20th Television will produce the new series as it did with the original.

I’m hopeful that this series will capture the same fun and humor that the original did, and I am looking forward to watching it. What do you think of this concept?
