SESAME STREET Is Set to Make the Move Over to HBO Max With a 5 Season Deal

The long-running children’s series Sesame Street made the leap from PBS to HBO a few years ago, and now they are making one more move to the upcoming streaming service HBO Max for at least a five year stay. Not only will we be getting new episodes of the series, but subscribers will have access to the 50 year catalog of the series, which is quite a trove of television history. The series will begin to air on the streamer beginning next season, Season 51, before the episodes then move over to the show’s original home of PBS.

Variety reports that the move will entail the following:

New “Sesame Street” content coming to HBO Max includes five new 35-episode seasons of “Sesame Street,” annual “Sesame Street” specials, kicking off with an animated version of “The Monster at the End of this Book,” a family-centric live-action take on a late-night talk show titled “The Not Too Late Show with Elmo,” a new season of “Esme & Roy,” two new animated series, one of which will be a “Sesame Street” spinoff called “Mecha Builders,” and finally a docuseries tackling difficult issues from a child’s perspective.

My youngest will be absolutely stoked for every part of that. He’s a huge fan of Sesame Street, especially Elmo, and his favorite book is The Monster at the End of This Book. So this is exciting news! Do you have a fan of Sesame Street in your house, or are you one yourself?
