Set Photo From Netflix's THE WITCHER Shows Henry Cavill as Geralt

A new photo from the set of Netlfix’s highly anticipated fantasy series The Witcher has surfaced and it features Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia.

Geralt of Rivia is a solitary monster hunter, who "struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together."

While it’s cool to see images like this, I can’t wait to see some actual footage from the series. I just hope that it turns out as good as I’m imagining it in my mind. Here’s a brief synopsis that was released for the show, which also stars Freya Allan (Ciri, Princess of Cintra), Jodhi May (Queen Calanthe), and Adam Levy (Mousesack).

"When destiny hurtles [Geralt] toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile continent together."

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is the executive producer and showrunner on the series, and she's joined by Alik Sakharov, Alex Garcia Lopez, and Charlotte Brändström, who will direct portions of the eight-episode first season. Sakharov will direct four episodes, including the first. Garcia Lopez and Brändström will direct two each.

The show is based on Andrzej Sapkowski's book and CD Projekt Red's game trilogy. When previously talking about the show, Hissrich assured fans that it would not be a watered down version of the dark and hardcore story that fans love.

The Witcher chronicles monster hunters who, with training and body modification, develop supernatural abilities at a young age to battle deadly beasts. Executive producers Sean Daniel and Jason Brown previously released the following statement offering some additional insight into the story:

“The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”
