Seth MacFarlane Says He's Known the Story for His Next FAMILY GUY Movie for 15 Years But Hasn't Had Time to Make It

Seth MacFarlane started his hit animated series Family Guy way back in 1999. It’s still running on Fox, going strong with a 23rd season in the works, but some fans have wondered why after a successful movie spinoff in 2005 with Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, we haven’t seen another movie set in the Family Guy universe.

As it turns out, MacFarlane has always known what that second movie would entail, but he cites lack of time as the reason why he hasn’t executed the project.

In a recent interview during a panel at PaleyFest (via The Wrap), the writer, creator, and voice of Stewie Griffin himself, said, “I have known what that movie will be for the past 15 years and I just haven’t had the time to get to it, but I do know what it will be.”

Another movie, which MacFarlane plans to release in theaters, has been in the works since 2007, and was announced in 2014, however, it ended up on the backburner due to the filming of Ted 2.

MacFarlane has said that the story is "something that you could not do on the show, which [to him] is the only reason to do a movie" and that he sees it as "an old-style musical with dialogue."

Are you hoping to see a Family Guy movie in the theater? Stay tuned for updates.
