Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne’s PLATONIC Scores a Season 3 Renewal at Apple TV

Fans of Apple TV’s comedy series Platonic can celebrate because Sylvia and Will are getting another round of mid life chaos and questionable decision making. Apple has officially renewed the Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne comedy for a third season, giving the duo another shot at finally opening their “Sh*tty Little Bar”.

Season 2 wrapped in October with ten episodes that pushed the already messy friendship between Byrne’s Sylvia and Rogen’s Will into new territory.

Will’s wedding blew up, Sylvia’s side career as a party planner exploded, and back at home she navigated fresh tension with her lawyer turned author husband Charlie, played by Luke Macfarlane. The finale also brought a fun surprise appearance from Byrne’s real life husband Bobby Cannavale, who showed up as Brett Cayote, the action star version of Charlie.

The ensemble included Andrew Lopez as Reggie and Carla Gallo as Katie who is also sleeping with Will. The season ends with Will and Sylvia agreeing to open a bar together to work around a non-compete clause which sets the stage perfectly for more trouble in season three.

Platonic is a fun show and it comes from creators Nicholas Stoller and Francesca Delbanco and is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

Both Rogen and Byrne are already major players in the Apple TV world. Rogen’s The Studio was renewed for a second season and recently pulled in thirteen Emmy wins including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Rogen.

Byrne previously starred in the Annie Weisman series Physical, which ran for three seasons, and appeared in the holiday musical Spirited.

Stoller and Delbanco shared their excitement saying “We couldn’t be more excited to get back into the world of Platonic with our amazing partners, Rose and Seth and Sony and Apple”.

Apple TV’s head of programming Matt Cherniss added “Platonic is proof there is no duo better at making us belly laugh at mid life crises than Seth and Rose. Nick and Francesca accomplished the rare feat of taking the show to the next level in season two, and, along with our partners at Sony, we can’t wait to see what they cook up for season three”.

With Sylvia and Will heading into the unpredictable world of bar ownership, Season 3 of Platonic is shaping up to deliver even more awkward, heartfelt and hilarious moments.
