Seth Rogen Compares TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHAM Soundtrack to TONY HAWK'S PRO SKATER
The Ninja Turtles are set to make an exciting return to the big screen with the upcoming flick Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem! The movie is being helmed by Jeff Rowe, co-writer and co-director of The Mitchells vs. the Machines, and the movie is being produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
I’m super curious to see how this movie turns out, especially with the creative team that’s developing it. Rogen recently offered an update on the project and teases what the soundtrack will be like. He compares the soundtrack that’s being put together to the classic video game Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. While a guest on the Hawk vs Wolf podcast, Rogen said:
"They do skate, actually. What's funny is we were having a call with the music supervisor because we were pretty far along on and there's a lot of music in it and they're like 'The music doesn't go together...It goes together but in a weird way like how would you describe it?' And our director (Rowe) was like 'I kind of describe it as what you would kind of hear playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.' It's like a random assortment of music, kind of, but it all fits together perfectly, it kind of has that same energy and spirit. But it really it actually it's like very similar and there are literally some songs that are from like the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. It's amazing it's really cool, and it's fully animated and it comes out in August and it's incredible. I'm really psyched about it."
I’m a big fan of the music in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, so it sounds like this movie is going to have a rad soundtrack!
In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, “after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O'Neil helps them take on a notorious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them."
Rogen previously explained that this new film will lean more towards a teenage coming-of-age story saying:
“As a lifelong fan of Ninja Turtles, weirdly the ‘Teenage’ part of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was always the part that stuck out to me the most. And as someone who loves teenage movies, and who’s made a lot of teenage movies, and who literally got their start in their entire profession by writing a teenage movie, the idea of kind of honing in on that element was really exciting to us. I mean, not disregarding the rest, but really using that as kind of a jumping off point for the film.”
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is set to arrive on August 4th, 2023.
