Seth Rogen Offers Update on TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM Sequel

Seth Rogen recently offered an update on the planned sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.

He shared that there’s a full-storyboarded animatic of the movie, and it has a title, and Rogen is very excited about it.

During an interview with CB, Rogen said: "There is a title, and it's awesome, but I don't think I can say it. But when it came up on the screen, I stood up and cheered. There's an animatic -- there's a storyboarded version of the whole movie, so they're working on it right now."

While we wait for the sequel to be released, we’ve got a spinoff series coming titled Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, that takes place directly after the events of the film to keep us entertaining until the sequel comes out.

We don’t know much about the sequel, but one thing we know is that it will introduce Shredder as the main villain. It was previously explained that the sequel will be a “villain-forward” movie that will focus on Shredder.

Director Jeff Rowe said: “Shredder is just a great character. He’s an iconic, classic, loved character. He’s like the Joker. You know who he is, even if you’re not a fan of the source material.

“I think we definitely wanna do a villain-forward film. We’re currently trying to make decisions about that, but those decisions for us as filmmakers are always going to come from the place of what tells the best story, specifically about our main characters, the Turtles.”

Rowe later shared: “Shredder used to be the main villain before we pivoted away from that. They saved Joker for The Dark Knight.”

He goes on to say that Shredder will be "100 Times Scarier Than Superfly" in the sequel: “The one thing I can say without spoiling anything is, [Shredder] needs to be 100 times scarier than Superfly – who is a credible villain, he’s dangerous, he’s strong, he seems like he could mess the Turtles up. Shredder needs to be that, just significantly more.”

The director previously teased Shredder’s involvement, saying: "When you've grown and you've become confident as a teenager, to then go up against a foe that is three times scarier than anything you've ever seen before, that's interesting and dramatic."

He added: “It’ll be really interesting to see these fun-loving characters go up against something that maybe they can’t stop.”

It’s going to be interesting to see what this next chapter of the story will entail and how these character’s story arc continue to play out.
