Seth Rogen Shares How His TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Movie Will Be Different

About a month ago we learned that Nickelodeon was producing a new CG-animated reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Seth Rogen and his long-time producing partner Evan Goldberg are developing the project, and in a recent interview with Collider, Rogen opened up about what they are looking to do with it and how it will be different from the other iterations we’ve seen. He explains that this new film will lean more towards a teenage coming-of-age story:

“As a lifelong fan of Ninja Turtles, weirdly the ‘Teenage’ part of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was always the part that stuck out to me the most. And as someone who loves teenage movies, and who’s made a lot of teenage movies, and who literally got their start in their entire profession by writing a teenage movie, the idea of kind of honing in on that element was really exciting to us. I mean, not disregarding the rest, but really using that as kind of a jumping off point for the film.”

Yeah, that totally makes sense. While it feels like the first original film did have some of that, I think that Rogen and Goldberg will deliver something really cool and fun that fans will enjoy.

Jeff Rowe (Gravity Falls, Connected) is set to helm the project while Brendan O’Brien (Neighbors: Sorority Rising) is attached to pen the script. There are still no details to share regarding what the story will entail, but we now have an idea of what kind of story we’ll see and the tone of it.

I’m also curious to see what kind of style the new animated film will go with, and what it will look like. I would love to see them do something crazy and different. Something unique like what Sony did with Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, but with its own style. Just something wild and new!
