Seth Rogen Will Play a Man Who is Brined in a Vat of Pickles For 100 Years in His Next Film Project

Movie Seth Rogen by Joey Paur

Seth Rogen has signed on to star in a crazy new film project in which he will play a pickle maker. Yep, sounds like the kind of role that Rogen would take on, but the story for this film just gets even weirder!

The script for the movie is being written by Simon Rich, and the story is based on his own New Yorker novella. Rogen will play a character named Herschel Greenbaum, “a struggling laborer who immigrates to America in 1918 with dreams of building a better life for his beloved family. One day, while working at his factory job, he falls into a vat of pickles and is brined for 100 years. The brine preserves him perfectly and when he emerges in present day Brooklyn, he finds that he hasn’t aged a day. But when he seeks out his family, he is horrified to learn that his only surviving relative is his great grandson, Ben Greenbaum (also played by Rogen), a mild-mannered computer coder whom Herschel can’t even begin to understand.”

That certainly sounds like it’s going to be strange movie with an absolutely absurd plot. I like weird stuff like this, though, and I hope that it actually turns out to be a good funny flick.

The movie will be directed by Brandon Trost, who has worked on a number of Rogen’s projects as a cinematographer. This will be is first feature film directing gig. Production is expected to begin in October in Pittsburgh.

What do you think of the story concept for this new Seth Rogen film?
