SHADOW AND BONE Spinoff Series in the Works at Netflix Titled SIX OF CROWS
I’ve got some surprising and cool news for all of you Shadow and Bone fans! It was recently revealed that the creative team behind the Netflix series has quietly been developing spinoff series titled Six of Crows and it will center on the Crows of Ketterdam.
Series showrunner Eric Heisserer revealed the news to Entertainment Weekly that he's been working on the story which will “tackle the main events of author Leigh Bardugo's duology, including the jurda parem Grisha drug storyline.”
The project is in the very early stages, and it’s still got a while to go before it gets the official green light. According to Heisserer, the fate of this project depends on how well Shadow and Bone Season 2 performs on Netflix. If it happens, the idea would be that both Six of Crows and Shadow and Bone would run simultaneously.
Heisserer talked about prepping the new series saying: "One of the reasons, not all of them, that I got the privilege of working with Daegan Fryklind as co-showrunner in Season 2 is that I was busy with the writers' room for Six of Crows. We are ready to launch that as its own story. The eight-episode scripts are phenomenal and I'm really proud of my team for those."
Heisserer also confirmed a part of the spinoff would take place during the events of Shadow and Bone's Season 2 finale, “which ends with an extended coda that sees various characters on different paths.”
It’s also explained that the Six of Crows spinoff "would be its own little season of fun that our characters would get to be a part of.” Heisserer went on to say: "There's a lot of work that's gone into the planning of this. The hope is then we get to act on that planning. But of course, it's about how well Season 2 numbers do. And if so, then Daegan and I will continue to carry the mantle of both shows, which is also helpful because we have a lot of mouths to feed. To be able to give them their own real estate so they have elbow room allows us to go deeper on some of these character arcs."
The Shadow and Bone series is based on Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse novels, and the adaptation is really well made. I hope that people tune in for Season 2 so that we get the Six of Crows spinoff!
