SHANG-CHI 2 Could Introduce the Agents of Atlas and a New Iron Fist
Marvel Studios has been pretty quiet about the future of Shang-Chi, but a new report suggests the sequel could be bigger than expected. Not only will it continue Shang-Chi’s story, but it may introduce the Agents of Atlas and a brand-new Iron Fist.
According to The Cosmic Circus, Disney recently registered a new production company in the UK named "Atlas Hall" and while some believe it could be connected to Thor 5, the name Atlas strongly hints at something related to the Marvel team, Agents of Atlas.
Though nothing is confirmed, there’s growing buzz that this production is tied to Shang-Chi’s future in the MCU.
Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi has been absent from the MCU since 2021, and while a sequel was rumored to tie into Kang’s storyline, it was never officially announced. However, reports that Liu will return in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, with Wong bringing him into the fight.
From there, a solo Shang-Chi sequel will reportedly explore the Atlas Foundation, a powerful and dangerous organization that could be the film’s main villain.
In Marvel Comics, the Atlas Foundation was a secretive criminal empire originally formed by the descendants of Genghis Khan, aiming to expand his conquest into modern times.
Jimmy Woo, an FBI agent, was meant to be part of the Atlas Foundation but was taken to America by his parents. Instead of joining, he eventually defeated the organization and used its vast resources to establish the heroic Agents of Atlas.
The report hints that the Shang-Chi sequel will dive into this history: “One of the themes that sources told us about was how the film would approach the impact of Wenwu’s death following the events of the first film …
“His sacrifice, as well as the change in the chain of command in the organization, with Xialing taking over, would send ripples across criminal organizations worldwide. Still, none would be more interested than the Atlas Foundation.”
It also suggests a long-standing rivalry between the Ten Rings and the Atlas Foundation, dating back centuries to the Mongol Empire:
“According to what sources inform us, the Ten Rings has developed quite a rivalry with the Atlas Foundation, dating back as early as the 13th century when Genghis Khan rose to power and the Mongol Empire began their conquest of China and India. Wenwu and Khan would have been mortal enemies, and their armies would have waged war for decades.”
The Mandarin may have wiped out much of the Atlas Foundation, but with his death, they could finally resurface. The report teases that the Atlas Foundation’s elite warriors, The Golden Horde, will launch an attack on the Ten Rings headquarters, likely targeting Xialing, Shang-Chi’s sister.
This brings Shang-Chi and Jimmy Woo together to investigate The Golden Claw, a mysterious figure who may be leading the resurgence of the Atlas Foundation.
If the sequel does introduce the Agents of Atlas, we might see a mix of familiar and new faces. The report claims names like:
Amadeus Cho (A young genius and possible future Hulk)
Lin Lie / Iron Fist (A fresh take on the classic martial artist)
Luna Snow (A K-pop star-turned-superhero with ice powers)
While this is all unconfirmed, it makes for good conversation, and, who knows, may Shang-Chi 2 could be shaping up to be much bigger than what fans initially thought.
