Hours after The Shape of Water took home the Oscar for best picture, a dildo themed after the monster on Etsy sold out. Granted, there were only 28 dildos to sell (at $70 a pop) but the fact that ANYONE loves this film that much is a little unnerving to me. Don't get me wrong, I love a good monster film...I guess I just don't love it in the way these people do.

I can also see people buying it just for the memorabilia aspect. Who's to say 25 years from now a rampant fan of the film doesn't purchase one of these 28 dildos for an astronomical price? Guillermo del Toro might've already ruined the chance of that happening as he stated he doesn't think the representation is accurate.
