SHAZAM! Director David F. Sandberg Breaks Down the Truth About Movie Test Screenings
When I was growing up in the Los Angeles area my friends and I would attend movie test screenings all the time when I was in high school. Why would I say no to a free movie!? After the movie ended forms are handed out to the audience to fill out filled with questions about the movie. Sometimes they even paid us to stay after the theater emptied out to talk about it and share our thoughts on it and answer their questions. Sometimes the filmmakers would sit in the back and listen to what we had to say. It’s something that I actually always enjoyed doing.
The filmmakers and the studio then take all the information learned from these test screenings and use it as a way to help in changing certain aspects of the film and figure out how they are going to market the movie to the masses.
Director David F. Sandberg (Shazam!, Annabelle: Creation) has made a fun informational video in which he breaks down the truth about what the deal is with these test screenings. He also talks about what he personally finds helpful about these screenings, as well as the aspects of the process that bother him. Check out the video below!
