SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS Post-Credits Scenes Will Not Be Shown in Screenings Until Opening Day
Fans are getting pumped up for this weekend’s Blockbuster film Shazam! Fury of the Gods to be released. It’s the follow-up to DC’s 2019 hit film Shazam!, which followed the story of Billy Batson, “who upon reciting the magic word ‘SHAZAM!’ is struck by the Living Lightning of the gods and transformed into his adult superhero alter ego, Shazam. He has the powers of six gods: the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury.”
This sequel will continue the tale of Billy Batson and his foster siblings, who can all transform into superheroes, as they jump into action and fight against the Daughters of Atlas to save the world from a weapon that could destroy it.
We have already heard one spoiler about a DC character that will be appearing in the movie, and there’s a good chance we will see at least one more in the film’s post-credits scenes, but the studio is doing their best to keep those scenes a surprise for fans on opening weekend.
After the debacle that was the post-credits scene spoiler several days before the opening of Marvel’s Eternals, DC and Marvel alike are working more diligently to help fans enjoy the surprises baked into the endings of their films, and in effort to make that happen, pre-screenings for press leading up to Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ theatrical release will not include any post-credit scenes.
Director David F. Sandberg recently told Uproxx of the post-credits scenes:
"I mean, they exist. I think it's more like wanting to save something for the fans on opening day and all that stuff so it doesn't get out there. They're mostly just fun little scenes. It's not like, 'Here's the new Superman.' I can't spoil too much, but you get to see some characters that are fun to see."
I think this is a decent move. It wouldn’t be an issue if people weren’t hellbent on putting spoilers out there before other people get a chance to see the movie.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods hits theaters this weekend, and it looks like it’s going to be a fantastic time. So get to the theaters, and remember not to spoil it!
