SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS Will Include More Shazam! Family Action
Shazam: Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg recently talked a little more about his upcoming DC film during a Q&A video that was shared at the DC FanDome event this past weekend. He teased that one of the things we can look forward to seeing is more of the Shazam! family in action.
The Shazam! family consists of Billy Batson (Asher Angel and Zachary Levi), Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer and Adam Brody), Eugene (Ian Chen and Ross Butler), Pedro (Jovan Armand and D.J. Cotrona), Darla (Faithe Herman and Meagan Good), and Mary (Grace Fulton and Michelle Borth). Sandberg explained:
"Now they're all superheroes, they're all a family with superpowers. And now we finally get to see that. We only got a glimpse of that in the first movie, so that's something to look forward to."
When previously talking about the film with Backstory Magazine, Sandberg said:
"We just introduced them, but you could explore how they work as a family of heroes. I saw a lot of speculating online about the kids turning into their adult counterparts. But people thought there was no way we'd do that in the first film, that we'd save it for the sequel or somewhere down the line. But for us, it was like, no, let's do the best we can right now. I think that's a better way to go. You never know if later is going to happen, so you shouldn't hold back for no reason.
“The movie builds on this family theme, and the big payoff is that anyone can become a superhero, no matter your background."
No other details regarding the sequel were revealed, but I’m looking forward to seeing how the story will continue. The sequel is currently scheduled to be released on November 4, 2022.
