SHE-HULK: ATTORNEY AT LAW Writer Reveals She Once Pitched a Black Widow and She-Hulk Movie to Marvel
The initial reactions for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law have been coming in from critics, and most of them are saying it’s a fun and refreshing show. I haven’t watched it myself yet, but I’ve been looking forward to it.
Anyway, the head writer of the series, Jessica Gao (Robot Chicken), previously pitched a Black Widow movie to Marvel Studios. It was the very first project she pitched to them, and She-Hulk was going to be heavily involved in the story.
In a recent interview with /Film, she talked about this project and how the pitch felt more like a She-Hulk movie than a Black Widow movie:
"The very first project that I pitched at Marvel was for the 'Black Widow' movie. And I had She-Hulk in my pitch, but so much of She-Hulk in my pitch that somebody actually commented, 'It kind of feels like you're pitching a She-Hulk movie with Black Widow in it.'"
Whatever she pitched obviously stuck with Marvel executives because they brought her in to help develop the She-Hulk series. I guess it’s the project she was meant to be involved with. Gao went on to say:
"Clearly there was a reason why I didn't get that job. I really do believe that all of that was for a reason because ultimately, at the end of the day, the thing that I really wanted was 'She-Hulk' and those other projects weren't 'She-Hulk.'"
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will premiere on Disney+ on August 18th, 2022.
