SHE-HULK Comic Writer Says Marvel's Series is "The Most Comic Book Accurate Show in the MCU"
Here’s a recent comment about Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series that is sure to ruffle some feathers. A lot of Marvel fans questioned the show’s accuracy when comparing it to the comics that it was based on, but She-Hulk comic writer Dan Slott has a very different opinion and says that the series is “the most comic book accurate” series that Marvel has made. He said:
“Anyone saying the @SheHulkOfficial TV show wasn't ‘comic book accurate’... I'm the guy who has written more issues of SHE-HULK than anyone. I've read every single comic from every #SheHulk run. And I'm saying, for the record, it is the MOST comic book accurate show in the MCU.”
One example of where this wasn’t the case is the origin story because the series definitely changed that. In a follow-up tweet, Slott also fired back against those who didn’t like the twerking scene in the series, saying:
“People arguing the twerking scene in #SheHulk wouldn't have happened in the comics... Byrne had She-Hulk jumping rope in a bikini. I had her karaokeing, dancing, & partying so hard it was causing structural damage to Avengers Mansion. This is the hill they want to die on?”
Now, I’m a big fan of the She-Hulk comic book series, but I felt that the series missed the mark. It’s weird how that works. Here we’ve got the guy who knows She-Hulk inside and out as a writer versus the fans who have been reading his work on She-Hulk and the work of others. It’s interesting to see how the opinions differ.
It’s hard to argue with the guy who wrote She-Hulk, but then I don’t understand why I loved the comics but was disappointed with the series. I even watched it a second time and liked it even less. I guess while the show could be “accurate” it’s just not executed as well as the comic series. What do you think about all this?
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is now available to stream in its entirety on Disney+.
