SHE-HULK Star Tatiana Maslany Opens Up About MCU Return After Calling for Disney Boycott

It’s been a pretty interesting road for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and star Tatiana Maslany, and now the actress is finally talking about the possibility of stepping back into the MCU after publicly urging fans to boycott Disney last year.

The situation kicked off in September when Disney temporarily suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! following comments Kimmel made regarding the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. Disney later reversed course after backlash from viewers and several Hollywood figures.

Maslany was one of the louder voices reacting to the controversy. The actress took to social media and encouraged fans to cancel subscriptions to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN in protest.

Despite that public clash with Disney, it doesn’t sound like the door is closed on Jennifer Walters returning to Marvel Studios.

During a recent interview with Radio Times, Maslany was asked if she’d ever reprise her role as She-Hulk in the MCU. Her response made it pretty clear that she still has a lot of love for the character.

She said: “The character is outside of what I feel like the corporation is doing,” before adding that she’d absolutely be interested in returning.

Maslany continued:“I love She Hulk, and I loved what [Attorney at Law creator] Jessica Gao did with her. I feel like it was very loyal to the comics and all of that. If there was a space where it made sense for her to come back... I mean, I don't know anything, and I do think that the internet will know before I do.”

At this point, Marvel fans are already convinced she’s coming back sooner rather than later. Rumors surrounding Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars have been circulating for months, and there was concept art tied to Secret Wars reportedly featured She-Hulk alongside Hulk and Skaar in a medieval-inspired world packed with gamma-powered characters.

Marvel Television boss Brad Winderbaum also recently talked about wanting more She-Hulk stories in the MCU, which only fueled speculation.

He said: “I love She-Hulk. I'd love to make more She-Hulk. I mean, I'll tell you this about She-Hulk. That's one of our best-performing shows. It just hit the general audience. I would love the opportunity to make more She-Hulk, honestly. Hopefully one day. Maybe,”

For all the online noise surrounding the series, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law actually pulled in solid numbers when it debuted on Disney+ in 2022. Reports claimed the show drew around 1.5 million U.S. viewers during its first four days on streaming, putting it in line with several other Marvel Disney+ projects released around that time.

The series also ended up becoming one of Marvel’s most divisive streaming shows. Critics largely enjoyed it, giving it an 80% score on Rotten Tomatoes, while the audience-driven scrore landed at 32%.

Whether Marvel decides to bring back a full second season is still anyone’s guess. The visual effects costs attached to a fully CGI lead character probably make that decision a complicated one.

But if the next Avengers movies are really heading toward a massive multiverse showdown, Jennifer Walters feels like an easy character to plug into the chaos, if that’s the direction Marvel is looking to go.
