SHERLOCK HOLMES 3 Will Be Helmed By ROCKETMAN Director Dexter Fletcher
Warner Bros. is finally moving forward with Sherlock Holmes 3, but this time it will be without director Guy Ritchie. The next film in the franchise will instead be helmed by Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher. I’m cool with that directing choice. I like what he did with Rocketman, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Eddie The Eagle. I’m sure he’ll do some fun things with Sherlock Holmes 3.
Robert Downey Jr. will, of course, reprise his role as Sherlock. According to Variety, WB has been planning on making a third film for awhile, but they had to wait for Downey Jr.’s schedule to open up to do it. Now that he’s done with Marvel, the actor’s schedule is wide open! Jude Law is also expected to return as Professor Watson.
I’ve enjoyed these Sherlock movies and I’m excited to see how this next chapter of the story plays out, especially with how the sequel ended. Chris Brancato is writing the script for the film and the movie is expected to hit theaters on December 21st, 2021.
