Shout! Factory Releasing KAMEN RIDER KUUGA on Blu-ray This Year

Kamen Rider is a tokusatsu series from Toei in Japan that never really took off with an American adaptation like Super Sentai and Power Rangers. It did have Masked Rider back in the day, but it didn’t stick. That doesn’t mean that Kamen Rider doesn’t have fans. If you know the toku community, you know that they are crazy for Kamen Rider. Well, Shout! Factory recently announced that they’re working with Toei to release Kamen Rider Kuuga: The Complete Series on Blu-ray in North America. This collection includes all 49 episodes using the original Japanese masters with separate subtitle tracks, Japanese only subtitle track and Japanese + Grongi language translation.

When a group of archaeologists uncovers the tomb of a legendary warrior, they unearth Kuuga’s belt, accidentally releasing an ancient race of monsters called the Grongi, bent on destroying humanity. Enter Yusuke Godai, a modern-day guy-next-door, who learns he is telepathically linked to the mysterious stone belt. With its power, he transforms into the legendary warrior known as Kuuga, humanity’s only defense against the murderous Grongi monsters.

This release is in celebration of Kamen Rider’s 50th anniversary and is sure to be at the top of many people’s wish lists. You can pre-order Kuuga now from Shout! Factory, and anyone who orders will get a poster while supplies last. The Blu-ray will release on September 20.
