Showtime Greenlights Comedy Series THE CURSE From UNUCT GEMS Directors The Safdie Brothers
Showtime has given the greenlight to a pilot for a new 30-minute comedy series called The Curse. The series is being written by Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems) and Nathan Fielder, who created the series Nathan For You, and wrote for the series Important Things with Demetri Martin. Both Safdie and Fielder will also star in the series.
Here’s the synopsis for the comedy (via Deadline):
The Curse stars Fielder and co-stars Benny Safdie. It explores how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple who star in Flipanthropy, their troubled HGTV show.
Benny’s brother and partner Josh Safdie will executive produce the series alongside his brother and Fielder. The report says the series was pitched to the cable network by the Safdie Brothers, but they have not been confirmed to be directing the series.
This sounds like it will be a hilarious and outrageous comedy. With these guys on board, things are sure to get wild. I’ll definitely be checking it out.
