Showtime's HOMELAND is Coming to an End with Season 8

It looks like the story of Carrie Mathison is finally coming to an end. Showtime Networks CEO David Nevins has confirmed that it is coming to an end with Season 8. He makes it very clear, though, that the series is not being canceled. He explains:

"I do not want to hear the word 'cancellation.' [Co-creator and showrunner] Alex Gansa will bring the show to its proper conclusion."

At least it's going to get a properly planned conclusion that it deserves. This has been such a great series to watch and follow over the years, but it is time for it to come to an end. Better to end at the top!

Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin have been incredible to watch in this series. They are both such insanely good actors. While I know I'll miss the characters they play in this series, I'll be looking forward to seeing what projects they end up doing next!

The eighth and final season of Homeland is expected to air on Showtime in the first quarter of 2019.
