Freaky Trailer for Shudder's BODYCAM, a Found Footage Horror That Mixes Cops, Cosmic Terror, and Cover-Ups
Shudder just unleashed the trailer for Bodycam, a new found footage supernatural horror thriller that looks ready to mess with your head. If you like your horror raw, chaotic, and a little silly, this one might be right up your alley.
The film is being described as Cops meets Paranormal Activity, with a splash of Event Horizon thrown in when things spiral completely out of control.
The setup is simple but loaded. Two police officers respond to a domestic disturbance call that goes horribly wrong, ending in an accidental shooting. Instead of coming clean, they decide to bury the incident to avoid public outrage. Bad move.
As they try to cover their tracks, it becomes clear they are not the only ones observing what happened. The cameras they rely on for protection start revealing something far more disturbing lurking in the footage.
The story leans hard into paranoia and guilt, and early reactions suggest there is more going on here than just jump scares.
One review says the film is “equipped with plenty of scares, yet also deeper overtones of how people lose their humanity in the participation of systemic evil (policing in this case). Also very impressive what they did with the effects given the budget.”
The film stars Jaime Callica, Sean Rogerson, Catherine Lough Haggquist, Angel Prater, and Keegan Connor Tracy, who all find themselves caught in a nightmare that escalates from procedural drama into something much darker and stranger.
The found footage angle promises plenty of frantic tension as the officers scramble to understand what is happening and whether they can escape it.
If you are into horror that blends “visceral dread with cosmic terror.” then Bodycam looks like it could deliver a seriously unsettling fun experience. Shudder has been building a solid lineup of indie genre projects lately, and this one feels like it is aiming to hit both your nerves and your conscience.
Check out the trailer and check out the silly supernatural nightmare when it hits Shudder on March 13th.
