Shudder Set To Continue Horror Anthology Series With V/H/S/99

Bloody Disgusting and Shudder are at it again. After breaking Shudder’s streaming records last October, Bloody Disgusting is producing V/H/S/99, the fifth installment of their popular horror anthology franchise.

We only have a brief synopsis to share, “A thirsty teenager’s home video leads to a series of horrifying revelations”, so there should be a lot of interesting themes and takes for the filmmakers to really sink their teeth into.

There’s also whole new set of filmmakers for this latest installment who are Johannes Roberts (Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City), Vanessa & Joseph Winter (Deadstream), Maggie Levin (My Valentine), Tyler MacIntyre (Tragedy Girls), and Flying Lotus (Kuso).

I’m not sure if people are ready to forgive Roberts for that Resident Evil movie yet, but hopefully this can help redeem him. It’s still hard to say how it will stack up to the previous films, but producer Josh Goldbloom has high hopes:

The last year of the ’90s was a perfect playground for us… …DVD’s surpassed VHS, Blair Witch took the world by storm, and Y2K fears created a sense of apocalyptic dread. Add to that 6 of the most creative genre filmmakers in the world, and we’re confident this is the biggest, baddest, and most wildly savage V/H/S yet!

Only time will tell, but you can check it out when it releases on Shudder on October 20, 2022 in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
