SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO Will Be The First U.S. Indie Film Shown In Saudi Arabia In 35 Years

Earlier this year we reported on Saudi Arabia lifting a 35-year religious ban on cinemas, and showed you one of the first luxurious cinemas that would be available in the country. Now we're getting word that Sicario: Day of the Soldado will be the first U.S. Indie feature shown in the country since the ban was lifted. The film will go down in history alongside Black Panther, which was the first film to screen to the public in the country after the decades old ban was lifted.

Variety reported the film only underwent light censorship, with the only cuts to the film happening during parts when a character swore. Film censorship in Saudi Arabia is often commonplace and typically done due to different cultural values.

I feel like Saudi Arabia is going to have very high expectations of American cinema after being exposed to just these two films! At least that's what I'm hoping, as all the buzz I've heard for Sicario: Day of the Soldado has been great. Who's excited for this film?
