Sideshow Unboxes Phenomenal Looking Gandalf The White Figure From Asmus Toys

Sideshow has a new unboxing video to share, this time unboxing the Gandalf the White ⅙ scale figure made by Asmus Toys. Gandalf comes with his faithful steed Shadowfax made of polystone with rooted hair. The likeness to SIr Ian McKellan is incredible with a realistic beard and hair made from wool and applied by hand. The tailored fabric outfit includes a patterned vest, a flowing long sleeved rob, sword belt, pants, and boots. His sword Glamdring is battle ready as well as his White WIzard’s staff. The figure comes with a variety of hands for different posing needs and is displayed on a grass covered display base.

This figure looks phenomenal. When I saw a close up image I thought I was looking at a portrait of Gandalf. The level of detail is perfect. The only thing that really bothers me is that poor horse’s mane. Everything else about Shadowfax looks so realistic, and then the mane looks so choppy and bad. I’m hopeful that it just wasn’t styled very well for the photos for whatever reason, but it looks like that in the video too so who knows. The weird thing is the tail looks good and Gandalf’s hair looks great, so I really have no idea what happened with Shadowfax’s mane. You can still preorder your Gandalf the White from Sideshow for $380 and you can watch the unboxing video below. Let me know what you think, is this one worth the price?
