Sienna Miller and Sam Worthington Join Kevin Coster's Western Epic HORIZON
Sienna Miller and Sam Worthington are set to star in Kevin Costner’s upcoming epic western project Horizon. Costner both stars in and will direct the film, which starts production on August 29th in Utah. The movie also stars Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Vecna in Stranger Things.
Horizon chronicles “a multi-faceted, 15-year span of pre- and post-Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. Experienced through the eyes of many, the epic journey is fraught with peril and intrigue from the constant onslaught of natural elements to the interactions with the Indigenous peoples who lived on the land and the determination and at many times ruthlessness of those who sought to settle it.”
Costner wrote the script with Jon Baird, and Costner has said that this is being planned as “four different movies” that will be released “about every three months.” Costner explained: “They’re all different films that all connect, so you’re watching a saga of these storylines that are happening.”
Worthington said in a statement: “I am very excited and humbled to go on this incredible and important journey with Kevin, who is one of the industry’s finest and inspiring storytellers.
Miller added: “I am so excited to go on this epic journey with such a legendary actor and director at the helm. The story is riveting. I am very honored to be a part of it.”
Costner previously talked about the story saying: “It’s a really beautiful story; it’s a hard story. It really involves a lot of women, to be honest. There are a lot of men in it, too, but the women are really strong in Horizon. It’s just them trying to get by every day in a world that was impossibly tough. They were often [dragged] out to these places because that’s where the men wanted to go; women were following their men. They didn’t ask to be in these territories that were unsettled and dangerous, and life wasn’t easy. I’ve chosen to make sure that was really obvious, that that wasn’t easy, and how vulnerable people were.”
Costner will spend eight months shooting the film, and it’s something that I’m incredibly excited about watching! I have no doubt that Coster is going to deliver another incredible western!
