Sigourney Weaver Was Sent a 50-Page ALIEN 5 Treatment, But She Doesn't Seem Interested

While Ridley Scott is still interested in making another Alien prequel film, franchise producer Walter Hill is looking to get an Alien 5 film off the ground that would see the return of Ellen Ripley.

Sigourney Weaver revealed in a recent interview with Empire that she was sent a 50-page treatment by Hill, outlining a potential Alien 5 about a year and a half ago, but Weaver doesn’t seem interested in it. She told the outlet:

“I don’t know. Ridley has gone in a different direction. Maybe Ripley has done her bit. She deserves a rest.”

I think the best shot at getting Weaver back in the role of Ripley was when Neill Blomkamp was developing a new Aliens sequel with Fox. Unfortunately, the project was canned, and Blomkamp moved on with his career. It’s a shame because that sounded like it would have made for a great sequel. It would have brought back Newt and Michael Biehn’s Corporal Hicks. The film and it would have picked up after the events of Aliens. So Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection, would have never happened.

Weaver was totally ready to return to the role for that movie. James Cameron even liked the script! Fans were getting pumped up for the film, and then director Ridley Scott said, “I think [Alien 5] will never see the light.” Blomkamp later confirmed that the project was dead.

I think that project was the last chance to get Weaver back, and now that it’s dead, she is obviously ready to move on. Or, maybe that they 50-page treatment she was sent just sucks.
