SILVER SABLE Project Rumored to Be Back in Development at Sony

Five years ago, it was reported that Sony was working on a Silver Sable movie. That news quickly morphed into a plan to make a Silver Sable-led TV series instead.

After about a year, the project went back to a film idea, and we didn’t hear about it for a very long time. Then a year ago, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines co-writer and director, Lindsey Anderson Beer revealed that although she had been attached to write the film at Sony, she had left, and the studio pretty much just let it die.

Director Gina Prince-Bythewood had also previously departed the project that the studio had kept on the back-burner. Now, there’s a rumor that a film is back in the works, but we are taking that info with a grain of salt.

Daniel Richtman is now reporting that a Silver Sable project is once again in the works, though we're not sure if it's for the big or small screen.

Silver and Black’s original synopsis was reportedly going to focus on Silvija Sablinova tracking down a fugitive Felicia Hardy for the U.S. Department of Justice. Spider-Man wasn't part of the script, but other characters such as Scorpion, Tarantula, Chameleon, Tombstone (and possibly even Norman Osborn) would have appeared, and the story was said to lay the groundwork for the formation of an all-female team which also included Spider-Woman, Jackpot, Stunner, and Dusk.

Black Cat is one of the characters rumored to be introduced in Spider-Man 4, as it has been reported that casting is underway for a new female lead, which would leave Silver Sable free to lead her own project.

I’m really not sure why Sony keeps throwing money away on superhero projects that bomb at the box office, but it’s their money, so whatever!

Do you think a Silver Sable movie could actually be good?
