Simon Pegg Debunks the Rumor That Tom Cruise Doesn't Allow His Co-Stars to Look Him in the Eye
The seventh film in the Mission: Impossible franchise was released this week, and it was the fifth collaboration of actors Tom Cruise, who plays the lead character, Ethan Hunt, and Simon Pegg, who plays field agent Benji Dunn in the movies. The actors have developed a friendship over the years, and Pegg feels close enough to Cruise that he has spoken out, debunking a rumor that has floated around for years.
During a recent interview with The Times of London (via CB), Pegg admitted that there is an aura of mystery around Cruise, but denied that it was Cruise himself who cultivates it. It was Cruise who called the rumor stating that his co-stars weren’t allowed to have eye contact with him one of the oddest things he had ever heard about himself, but Pegg was there to debunk it entirely during the junket for their latest collaboration.
"I've been able to hack my way through all the bizarre mythology that surrounds him. On one side he's Tom Cruise — this enigmatic film star everyone wants to know about. And on the other he's just a guy. I like being normal with him."
It’s cool to hear that Cruise is a regular guy, and some of the weird rumors we hear about him aren’t true. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is in theaters now. Have you seen it yet?
