Simon Pegg Shares a Funny Story About Meeting Carrie Fisher and How It Was the Best Day of His Life

It’s safe to say that a lot of fans who grew up with Star Wars in their lives had a crush on Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia, and Simon Pegg is no exception. The actor had the opportunity to meet Fisher on the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and he shared an incredibly funny story about a day he got to spend some time with the late actress.

During an interview with Vanity Fair, Pegg shared the following story that is sure to give you a laugh. He said:

“I had such a huge crush on Carrie Fisher when I was a kid. She was like my first sort of stirrings of romantic love. And I got to spend a little time with her. We had a lovely day when we wandered around the set of the Resistance base together arm in arm. And we were just sort of chatting and I turned around and we were looking at each other. And I was looking into her eyes and it was the same eyes. Obviously it sounds really obvious to say it, but I was looking into those eyes that sort of captivated me as as kid. And I said ‘You know, I’ve always loved you.’ And she grabbed my hand and looked at my wedding ring and said, ‘Fuck, you!’ It was the best day of my life.”

I love that story! It goes in a completely different direction than where you think it’s going to go. Fisher, with her quick wit and amusing personality, turned that moment into something hilarious that Pegg will cherish for the rest of his life.
