While GeekTyrant mostly puts a focus on the geek world with a focus on movies and TV, we also like to try and put out a positive spin on things that we put out there. As you know, I’m all about being positive and trying to see the good in things. We try to promote a positive environment for our readers and we are always trying to improve that to put good vibes out into the world.

A friend of mine has a 15-year-old son named Collin who is trying to launch his own brand to help spread positivity, and I just wanted to help him out in getting started with that because he has a heartfelt vision of doing some good in the world.

The brand is called Simple Surf and the mission is to inspire Creatively and spread Awareness. Kids these days are living in hard times and depression, anxiety, and other forms of mental anguish are on the rise. I see it in my own kids, and Collin sees it in his friends. After going through some personal experiences with his friends, he decided that he wanted to try and help in some way.

The idea came about while Collin and his dad took a drive up a beautiful canyon and ended up having a very raw heart to heart conversation and talked about the struggles kids in his age range are facing. Some of those things include Broken/abusive homes; out of control social media; constantly being bombarded with messaging that lure them into the destructive belief that they “ARE NOT ENOUGH”; cyber bullying; depression; anxiety, the psychological and emotional effects of the Pandemic; fear that stems from all the turmoil and uncertainty of current events; and skyrocketing suicide rates in every age group as young 10 years old on up.

It’s explained:

As a result, so many are shutting down and devolving into what is a grossly misunderstood state of being: Survival Mode. Survival mode is where addiction, self-identification with harmful influences, the deepening of destructive thought patterns and separation from one’s true self occurs.

Even though Collin is only 15 years old, he understands the gravity of the challenges at hand and has a desire to do what he can to assist others. He saw an opportunity with Simple Surf to be able to create products that will spread a hopeful message and raise Awareness in a fun relatable way.

This isn’t a campaign solely dedicated to mental health awareness. Nor is it solely dedicated to suicide awareness, or cyber bullying awareness. This campaign is dedicated to raising collective AWARENESS as a whole.

Collin and his dad feel like most people are already aware of what the symptoms and consequences attached to mental health challenges etc. However, the numbers indicate that no matter how much attention these topics get, these topics aren’t being dealt with as effectively as they could be. Collin wants to contribute in shifting the approach.

Colin said in a statement:

“Right now I am currently in the process of building a clothing brand company. I am not just only creating a company however. I am creating a movement. A movement to do good in this world and create awareness for physical, social, and mental well-being. I want to incorporate these very vital messages through water bottles, T-shirts, beanies, etc. These messages can be spread through love and understanding. Currently we are in the early stages of building this company and right now we are launching a go fund me to help us get the money we need to start getting the word faster and more efficiently. We would love to have your help and we invite you to be a part of this movement for an immediate impact. Even if it is just a dollar or just helping us get the word out. It would mean the world to us. We have ideas and dreams that we want to share with you guys as soon as possible. With that we want each and every single one of you to create with us. Thank you.”

His business partner Gauge added:

“I have joined in with a few friends and we have started a clothing brand called simple surf. Although this just sounds like an ordinary clothing brand we go way deeper than just a clothing brand. We have started a movement to change. The way that we will start this movement is by using 20% of our profits and put it into charity’s and for people who can’t afford a normal life. Our team would love for you to help us get started and get simple surf off of the ground. We have started a go fund me to help us get off the ground and start helping people as soon as we can. To us it doesn’t matter if it’s donating a dollar, 10 dollars or just getting to spread the word of simple surf around. We have ideas and dreams that we would like to accomplish and achieve we would like you to help us get started with that and create with us. Thank you.”

They’ve started a GoFundMe page to help get them started and they are asking for a little help to realize their vision of a brand dedicated to helping make the world a better place. The use of the funds raised go to help keep Simple Surf running with continued design of merchandise (Clothing, hats, water bottles etc.) that spreads positive messages, marketing, and a few other things.

Most importantly, the funds raised will facilitate Simple Surf in generating profit. A LARGE portion of any revenue earned will go to 2 major purposes:

1.) Finding and assisting those who are in a very dark place.
2.) Profit generated will be reinvested to create/share more and more tools that will expose people (of all ages) to coping mechanisms that actually work.

The company is young and just starting, but even if you aren’t interested in giving money, please consider following them on Instagram or TikTok.

An invitation for any who would like to join us in making a difference.
