Skinny Minis from Dungeon in a Box Are Incredible Alternatives to Traditional Miniatures

If you play Dungeons & Dragons or any other fantasy-based RPG in person, you know that it can get expensive getting miniatures for all the monsters and villains and possibly the NPCs. Not to mention, minis can take up quite a bit of space.

Well, the people over at Dungeon in a Box have thought about this and are now offering gamers an alternative to traditional minis that addresses cost and storage. That option is Skinny Minis. These are flat pieces of plastic with artwork for different creatures and characters available. You then put the plastic standee in a stand to bring it to life.

Here’s what some of them look like compared to a normal-sized 20-sided die:

Of course, there’s a wide variety of options available for different races, terrain, mounts, NPCs, dragons, etc. When you pledge at least $22 during the Kickstarter campaign, you’ll get 3 sets of your choice with more sets available at higher tiers. There are Kickstarter exclusives available as well, depending on what tier you pledge, and if you pledge at least $69, you’ll get a storage album for your new Skinny Mini collection.

Skinny Minis are solid, and I would use them if I had an in-person game. The options are incredible, they’re not flimsy, and while they can break, they are built tough. I will admit that some players may not want to use them for characters since you can’t really paint and customize them, but for monsters and even some players, these will be amazing. I would highly recommend these for any in-person group.

The Kickstarter campaign is already over 790% funded and has roughly 28 days to go.
