SLOW HORSES Season 6 Trailer Brings Olivia Cooke’s Sid Back as Gary Oldman Sends Slough House on the Run
Slough House has survived traitors, assassins, conspiracies, and Jackson Lamb’s general disregard for basic hygiene, but Season 6 is giving its dysfunctional spies a particularly nasty problem: somebody wants them dead.
The new trailer for Slow Horses Season 6 puts Gary Oldman and his wonderfully screwed-up crew on the run as former and current members of Slough House find themselves targeted. It also delivers a major surprise with Olivia Cooke returning as Sid Baker, a character fans haven’t seen since Season 1 back in 2022.
The trailer kicks off with Lamb standing in what appears to be the garden of Diana Taverner, played by Kristin Scott Thomas, and asking a question that immediately tells us how bad things have gotten: “Do you know anything about why my Slow Horses keep turning up dead?”
That’s a pretty serious problem, even by Slough House standards. The official logline offers a little more context about what Lamb and his agents are walking into:
“Season 6 sees the Slow Horses on the run as Diana Taverner embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge.”
Season 6 is directed by Adam Randall, and the trailer suggests the threat extends far beyond the agents currently working under Lamb.
Saskia Reeves, returning as Katherine Standish, makes the situation clear: “Anyone who’s ever worked at Slough House is being targeted” Lamb’s assessment is a bit more to the pointr: “It’s a blood bath.”
That sends the team scrambling to locate former Slough House members before whoever is hunting them gets there first. That setup also gives the series an excuse to bring some familiar faces back into the mess.
Rosalind Eleazar appears again as Louisa Guy, while Joanna Scanlan returns as the wonderfully irritating Moira Tregorian. But the big reveal is Cooke as Sid.
Sid was last seen during the first season, and her unexpected appearance comes as Lamb gives Standish a very Jackson Lamb explanation for how someone presumed dead can suddenly turn up alive: “Oh come on we’re spies, we’ve all faked our own death at one time or another.”
The trailer then cuts to Sid coming face to face with River Cartwright, played by Jack Lowden. For longtime Slow Horses fans, Sid’s return is a great surprise.
Her disappearance left plenty of unfinished business, particularly where River was concerned, and bringing her back while Slough House alumni are being hunted gives the writers plenty to play with.
The returning cast also includes Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Samuel West, Ruth Bradley, Jonathan Pryce, and Hugo Weaving. BAFTA winner Lenny Rush joins the cast for Season 6.
Slow Horses is based on the spy novels by Mick Herron, with Season 6 adapted for television by co-executive producer Gaby Chiappe. See-Saw Films produces the series.
The new season arrives while the show continues to rack up awards recognition. Season 5 has earned nine Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, giving the Apple TV spy series even more momentum heading into its next chapter.
Slow Horses has become one of the most entertaining spy shows on television because its characters rarely resemble the slick, impossibly polished secret agents we usually get from the genre. These people screw up, argue, stumble into danger, and somehow manage to keep Britain from falling apart. Usually.
Season 6 turning the hunters into the hunted feels like a fun way to shake things up. Throw Sid back into River’s life, put a target on everyone who has ever called Slough House home, and let Lamb figure out who wants his agents dead.
